Fabless Semiconductor Association Announces Top Fabless Companies by Yearly and Q4 2003 Revenue; QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies, Broadcom and NVIDIA Lead Top Ten
SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Feb. 17, 2004—
The Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), the global
voice of fabless and hybrid semiconductor companies and their foundry
and supply-chain partners, announces the top ten fabless companies by
calendar year 2003 and Q4 2003 revenue.
QUALCOMM's (Nasdaq:QCOM) CDMA Technologies (QCT) division led all
public fabless companies in sales for the year with $2.5 billion.
Broadcom (Nasdaq:BRCM) was second with $1.8 billion, while NVIDIA
(Nasdaq:NVDA) was third with $1.6 billion. Others in the top ten
included ATI Technologies (Nasdaq:ATYT), Xilinx (Nasdaq:XLNX),
MediaTek (TSE:2454), SanDisk (Nasdaq:SNDK), Altera (Nasdaq:ALTR),
Marvell Technology (Nasdaq:MRVL) (estimated revenue) and Conexant
(Nasdaq:CNXT), respectively.
QUALCOMM's QCT division also led all public fabless companies in
sales for Q4 2003, with sales totaling $751.8 million. Broadcom and
NVIDIA rounded out the top three, announcing $479.1 million and $472.1
million in revenue, respectively.
Overall, the FSA estimates 2003 total fabless revenue to reach
more than $23 billion, or 21 percent year-over-year (YoY), compared to
18 percent YoY industry growth.
Based on reported Q4 2003 results, fabless revenues are expected
to total $6.5 billion, up 16 percent sequentially from $5.6 billion in
Q3 2003, and more than 25 percent YoY. Actual fabless revenue growth
will be included in the FSA's new comprehensive financial report
entitled "Global Fabless Financial Report" available in March after
